Alec L. Segarich

Litigator focusing on trial practice, consumer and employment class actions, and representative actions.

I earned my J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and graduated cum laude with M.A. and B.A. degrees in political science from Boston University. I mainly represent employees in complex class and representative matters.

Before joining the firm, I spent my career advocating for employees, homeowners, and consumers in state and federal courts, on appeal, before regulatory agencies, and in mediation and arbitration. My clients have included employees who suffered discrimination and sexual harassment, workers who were fired for complaining about illegal practices at work, and workforces who were not paid proper wages or given proper meal and rest breaks. Whether the opposing party is a sole proprietor or a Fortune 500 company, I protect my clients’ rights and interests from beginning to end.

Some of my cases have involved:

  • A class of over 14,000 product demonstrators for a major retailer who were denied meal and rest breaks and worked off the clock.
  • A class of hundreds of nurses and nurse educators who were misclassified as exempt from overtime requirements.
  • An executive at a utility company that was fired in retaliation for making complaints about the illegal treatment of her subordinates.

I was admitted to the California State Bar in 2008. I am licensed to practice in all California State Courts, the U.S. District Courts in Northern and Eastern Districts of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Outside of the law, I was born and raised in New Hampshire, lived in Boston, Massachusetts, and moved to San Francisco in 2005, which I now call my home. I enjoy hiking and camping, cooking, and baseball.
